My house is getting all decorated up for the holiday. I feel like I have a pretty good start on it, but still need to do a couple of big things....like the trees. It's so fun to take out the things that I love to decorate with each year.
Like my collection of bulbs that I place around the house in baskets and amongst the greens.
I looooove sparkly stuff at Christmas...and things that look like ice and frost.
I love my little paper houses....pretty painted houses with their tarnished silver accents.....
And silly, happy snowmen.......
And the angels that I made with my Dad years ago.....
What are your favorite things about the house this time of year? I'd love to hear!
I have a fun project to share with you that I did for the Ally Scraps Blog. I downloaded patterns from the Victoria Magazine website to make these Vintage Village boxes.
The papers, mini pom pom trim, chipboard snowflakes, crystal topped stick pins and stickers can all be purchased from their store HERE.
I used Mica Flakes and clear glitter for the sparkle and distressed up some jingle bells and used silver pipecleaners for trimming. I love silver pipe cleaners!
You can go to the Ally Scraps Blog to get the complete list of supplies and directions, plus the link to the Victoria website for the templates for the houses. They'd love to have you stop on by.
So I also mentioned a GIVEAWAY in my title, so I want to let you know how to have a chance to win a bit of Christmas from me. Above I asked what are your favorite things around the house at Christmas time, so just tell me about that and you will be entered into the drawing to win.....................
the striped (pink, red, and blue) "Home for Christmas" Vintage Village House Box shown above! I'd love to share this with one of my blog readers. I hope that you'll enjoy it as much as I did making it. So go ahead and leave me your comment-- I can't wait to read them :-)
Thanks for stopping by! I plan to be back again in about a week to announce the winner of the Village House Box and to share another project or two. I've been making a few little clay pieces to add to projects so stop back when you can.
Have a wonderful winter weekend!
Linda

My favorite decorations are the photo ornaments I have from every year's visit to Santa For both my boys. This will be my tenth year. It is so fun to decorate the tree and see how much they have changed over the years.

I love Christmas alltogehter - the decorating, entertaining, music, even the shopping - it's all good. My favorite thing seeing everyone open their gifts, it's a riot whatever the outcome- the reactions are fun to watch.

Hi Linda...I LOVE decorating for Christmas. I too have a collection of vintage looking decorations that I put in my hutch in the Kitchen. I love to look at them every day. Another favorite of mine is to go in the quiet livingroom with a hot cup of tea at night with just the lights on the tree on. It's peaceful and magical.

I've lost both my brothers this year and my parents a few yeas back...my favorite decorating is putting up things that remind me of my family that's gone and reminding me of the happy times that I spent with them as a family at Christmas!!! Enjoy the holidays !! Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Those houses are adorable Linda! My favorite things around the house at Christmas? Well, several I love my angel ornament collection...and hanging them on the tree remembering the who or what about when I got it. Also I love nativites! Reminds me of the reason I celebrate Christmas in the first place! xoxo

I commented on AllyScraps blog that 1, 2, or 3 of these houses were @the top of my Wish List!!!! So my wish would come true if I won!
My favorite thing around the house would be family. Like some others who have commented we almost lost one this year and who knows how many other times God protected us.
Merry Chirstmas!

Linda you are so clever and creative. Your little houses are absolutely adorable. My favorite decorations are my Christmas glass ornaments that my family had when I was a kid. My parents are gone now and so when I put those ornaments on my tree it makes me remember all the special Christmas's I had as a child. Its like a little part of my parents are with me during the Christmas season. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

I love the "Spirit" of Christmas...the joy, the love...the spirit of giving! I love all the decorating and food too...but the spirit of the season was the first thing that popped ino my head. All your decorations and little houses are delightful!

My favourite thing around the house is my Santa figurine dressed in blue and silver - very striking and different to the usual red Santas.

My favorite thing to do each year is to get together with the ladies in my family and make our wreaths, kissing balls and centerpeice arrangments. It is such a fun time and everytime i see my creations around the house, i think about our stories and laughs that we had each year!

my favorite thing is the lights outside! We have the house on the street that everyone drives by real slowly as to see everything we have out there. This years we are in a different house so interesting to see how we pull it off it in a different yard.

My favorite memories of childhood Christmas was getting the tree. My brother would get the hack-saw and we'd hit the hills. I love the smell of cedar and pine. Every year our tree was different but never failed to have 1 really bad side that always went in the back. We had these huge bulbs that glowed from afar. Life as a child. We didn't get alot of presents but we had so much love.

My favorite christmas thing is my collection of Santas. I've had them in storage for the last 3 years due to space issues and finally was able to take them out this year. They really make me smile. Thanks for all you share with us and have a wonderful holiday yourself.

I just love your artwork. It is fantastic. I love that vintage retro feel. My favorite thing around the house during Christmas is my picture of Santa that I have hanging in my family room. I love all my Christmas decorations because they give you that ooooh sooo good feeling that you love at Christmas time. I would love to win a piece of your art.
