My house is getting all decorated up for the holiday. I feel like I have a pretty good start on it, but still need to do a couple of big things....like the trees. It's so fun to take out the things that I love to decorate with each year.
Like my collection of bulbs that I place around the house in baskets and amongst the greens.
I looooove sparkly stuff at Christmas...and things that look like ice and frost.
I love my little paper houses....pretty painted houses with their tarnished silver accents.....
And silly, happy snowmen.......
And the angels that I made with my Dad years ago.....
What are your favorite things about the house this time of year? I'd love to hear!
I have a fun project to share with you that I did for the Ally Scraps Blog. I downloaded patterns from the Victoria Magazine website to make these Vintage Village boxes.
The papers, mini pom pom trim, chipboard snowflakes, crystal topped stick pins and stickers can all be purchased from their store HERE.
I used Mica Flakes and clear glitter for the sparkle and distressed up some jingle bells and used silver pipecleaners for trimming. I love silver pipe cleaners!
You can go to the Ally Scraps Blog to get the complete list of supplies and directions, plus the link to the Victoria website for the templates for the houses. They'd love to have you stop on by.
So I also mentioned a GIVEAWAY in my title, so I want to let you know how to have a chance to win a bit of Christmas from me. Above I asked what are your favorite things around the house at Christmas time, so just tell me about that and you will be entered into the drawing to win.....................
the striped (pink, red, and blue) "Home for Christmas" Vintage Village House Box shown above! I'd love to share this with one of my blog readers. I hope that you'll enjoy it as much as I did making it. So go ahead and leave me your comment-- I can't wait to read them :-)
Thanks for stopping by! I plan to be back again in about a week to announce the winner of the Village House Box and to share another project or two. I've been making a few little clay pieces to add to projects so stop back when you can.
Have a wonderful winter weekend!
Linda

Especially for you Ann! I FOUND IT!! I found the template! It was in Victoria Magazine's Sept/Oct. 2010 issue, and it is called their Harvest House template. I emailed the link to Linda, and I also emailed her the .pdf file of the actual pattern template. Just email her directly, and she can email it to you!
I just love these houses! Linda did a wonderful job, they are just gorgeous!

Hi Linda
Your Victorian house boxes are very pretty! I know I'm posting a little late but I have a question. I tried to download the template at Victoria Mag site to create my own houses for christmas decor and I can't find it on the site at all, Do you have any idea how I can obtain the template for these houses? Thank you
Ann

Your ornaments are gorgeous. I love white lights and icicle lights for Christmas, I think they remind me of the twinkle of stars.

Linda, do you have any instructions and supply list for the Kiss the Cook doll and recipe box done on PAGE 32 for Melissa Frances new catalog. I emailed Customer Service and they told me you did the doll as a catalog assignment. I was wondering if the doll body was a styrofoam cone or a boby like the wooden angel doll you and your father made, also where I could get the head. I appreciate your help.
THANK YOU!

Hi Linda! I've seen so many of your designs in magazines and on other blogs and I love all of them. I love what you said about the glitter, snow and ice effect. I have taken old things that I've had for years and just sparkled them up. they are already my favorites....but now they are my new sparkly favorites with a dusting of snow and glitter! Hope your holidays are great!
Blessings,
Debbie

My favorite things are the shabby chic items I have around in my kitchen...the whitewashed pinks and whites....but I really love the handmade items that we make and keep from year to year.
I'm having a hard time finding the house templates...could you give us a direct link?

what a gorgeous giveaway this festive season ...
Living downunder, our seasons are totally opposite to yours and we have to wait until very late at night before we can see the full effect of the twinkling lights on properties around the town. May be one day I will have the opportunity to travel to the Northern hemisphere and experience a true 'white Christmas'.
My favourite things around the house at this time of the year - my snowmen and Santa collection and every year, I just 'have to' add to my collection ... ssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! don't tell my husband!

I have searched for downloads for these houses from Victoria. Were they originally in a edition of Victoria?
The houses are very beautiful

There are so many really beautiful decorations at Christmas time. Some of my favorite things are the homemade ornaments that are on the tree. I made a wreath several years ago that I really like. I don't decorate much anymore. I live with my dad who is blind, and I do the traveling at Christmas.
I would love to have a Christmas Village. I love when people have them in their house.
Thank you for the opportunity to win. Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Linda, I would be honored to win ... I truly would! I have several favorite Christmas decorations, but I think my most fave would be the tree. Four years ago I flew to Florida to be at my mother's side while she left her life here on earth. My husband and I talked about buying an artificial tree for several years but never got around to doing so. The night he picked me up at the airport and brought me home, brokenhearted, I came into the house to a new tree, fully decorated. On the plane ride home, I thought: "how can I possibly do Christmas this year?" and he showed me how.

My favorite part of the season is decorating my home, fixing food and sweets, and being cozy in our warm house! I have a little nativity scene that my dad bought me on my first Christmas after leaving home... it is worn and tattered, but I can't bear to part with it! It says everything about love and Christmas to me! Love your little houses... so sweet and sparkly!

The trees are awesome! Love them all! My favorite part of the trimmings, is getting everything out of its wrappings, it's just like opening a new gift each time. My favorite ornaments around my home are probably my collection of Heartwood Creek santas and angels.
