You know, we all have those "things" and this time of the year definitely brings on warm fuzzies for me. I love the things that we do to bring on the comforts of home, because we tend to spend more time inside now. I love a candle burning at night...it's relaxing and cozy. Often I even burn a candle in my den during the day when I am creating because it is such a comfort to me that it makes me relax and meditate a little bit more so that I can listen to my senses. I think that my creativity level is much better in the cooler months.
Have I ever mentioned that I am a white color girl? I adore every shade of white. It soothes me and my decor reflects that. The white and soft colors in my home make me have that "ahhhhh" feeling when I sit down and take it all in. Bringing our passion for whatever colors or elements that we love into our homes is a such a simple thing that we all do to make us feel good.
I love to also create with products that make me feel good. If it doesn't feel good then it doesn't spark my soul to be creative. Not too long ago I wrote a post called Sunshine and a Little Snow and in it I shared some projects that I created with Tattered Angels products. Well, let me tell you (if I didn't stress it enough in that post:-) I fell in love with it all. It has become one of those "makes me feel good" things for me. Luckily for me, I was invited to join their design team and I am so excited! It can be incorporated into the things that I do for my other teams and kits and that is so cool. It's like a double benefit!
Last week I received a wonderful box of product to work with, so I just had to make something. You know how that is... you get something fun and you just have to do something with it. This applies to all things in life, don't you think?
For this piece I used the Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists in the Golden Terracotta, Forest Green, Coffee Shop, and Candlelight colors. I made the banner with chipboard and a piece of Graphic 45 paper from their Domestic Goddess collection.
The Glimmer Chips (chipboard leaves) are coated with the Golden Terracotta, Candlelight and a little bit of the Coffee Shop along the edges. These mists are amazing to work with and make shading so easy. I also sprinkled on a few Utee crystals while the Glimmer Mist was wet so that when dry I could heat emboss the Utee and make the appearance of wet drops--like when you go out in the morning and the leaves are wet with dew. I also did this to the little picket fence piece.
The tree is stamped with one of the screens from the Blossoms Glimmer Screen set. I stamped it with the Arctic Blue mist which appears almost black. The owl is stamped with a pigment ink and is from the Graceful Journey clear stamp set. I added some gold embossing powder to his eyes and a couple of black pearl gems to make them pop. I just love his haunting look.
Speaking of candles(or candle holders), I went to Hobby Lobby a couple of weeks ago and found this on sale:
Oooooooohhhhhhhhhh.......... I think that I gasped when I saw it. I H.A.D. to have it and after all it was on sale. I don't know there is just something about it that makes me soooooo happy. Originally I had planned to bring it home and paint it white (imagine) but for now I like it just the way it is and it contrasts nicely with all of the other white stuff in the house.
Ahhhh..... love.
Amongst everything else, I am working on this project for a kit at The Scrappy Gourmet.
Lots of lovely Melissa Frances and a sweet Maya Road house album. Melissa Frances products are another one of my "just makes me feel so good" things with all of their shabby, vintagey and soft elements. I plan to have this project done very soon and it will be up for sale at TSG with plenty of time to create before Christmas. This would be such a nice gift for someone or for yourself if you can't seem to part with it. ;-) Hey, I know how you feel... if it glitters, I don't want to part with it!
The BasicGrey Nook and Pantry Recipe Keeper that you can see the start of HERE will be for sale on the site on November 1st.
I could go on and on and on about my feel good things as I have many more, but we can save some for another time. For now, this is a reminder for all of us to bring what we have the opportunity to into our lives. In that we can find peace and comfort. Then throw in the blessings of family and friends and really, don't we just have it all?

Hi Linda what a lovely post. I too love a little glitter...and melt when I see projects with a little glitter here and there. My daughter makes me happy too...when she smiles or calls from college I feel a little glittery sprinkle of happiness on my day!
Have a blessed weekend!

How gorgeous your projects always are, and your home, too. I love all the little peeks that you share. So inspiring, and yes, you're right......very peaceful and soothing.
I've been working on making my own version of your pumpkin-head guy today. That has made me just so darn happy. Thanks for posting all the directions and sharing all your talent. I've only got the head finished so far, but am in love already.

Linda, I just wanted to say that I love your work... everything you create is just amazing! And I love all your decor too... nothing wrong with all the white :D
That owl Banner is fabulous. I really like how you did it's eyes and I love the technique you touched on for using UTEE crystals mixed in with glimmer mist colors. Tattered Angels is lucky to have you on their DT! Congrats to you ;)
