It's Zorro!  Well actually it's Cort in disguise for Halloween as  Zorro.  Oh how I love that boy.  He is so fun and silly and always brings such happiness into every day.  Zorro has made an appearance here and there for about 2 weeks just so that he is in good practice and ready for Halloween night.

This was the easiest costume that I have ever made in the past 26 years of making costumes for the kids. Did you notice the emblems on his hat are some of those Foofala  embroidered embellishments?  We watched "The Mask of Zorro" before we worked on the costume so that we knew what we needed.  Love that movie and who could be a better Zorro to look like than Antonio Banderas?  Need I say more?!!  Zorro's hat had some fancy scrollies and flourishes, so I improvised and used the Foofala flourishes.  Then I made the cape out of some imitation suede.  Like I said, easiest costume ever.

I've kind of been in the sewing/stitchery mood lately, so in avoidance of working on a book assignment ;-) -- I finished a pillow that had been cut out for the longest time.  My mom has an elderly friend that gave her some antique lace for me.  I used some of it for front of the pillow, sewed on some sequins, made a silk ribbon flower, then sewed baby ric rac onto the ruffle.  I have been wanting a sparkly pillow like this for my bed for awhile now.  Ever since I saw one in a magazine.  It's one of those pretty girly things that make me happy.

Trick or Treating begins in less than 6 hours so I'd better get busy here.  Everything is ready, but I still have an afternoon of catch up on assignments.

Just a couple more photos of  Fall here in MN...

I knew there was a reason

A reason why I haven't cleaned out all of my flowers and pots yet outside ;-) ;-)  Yes, let's just say that I KNEW that we were going to have a few Indian Summer like days and that the flowers would start to thrive again.  Look... the geraniums are going to bloom again...and a few other flowers already have.  I think that they look great with the pumpkin color.  So,  they are staying until  1. I get a break from design team work or  2. until they are frozen stiff and then I "have" to remove them.

Img_1898 I just didn't realize that so many of my flowers were fairly cold hardy.  It's been in the 30's at night for several days, so I thought that they would refuse to grow anymore.  Not so, I guess.

Img_1892 Even though the summer flowers are still in bloom and the grass is green, the final Fall decorations have come out.  Cort decided over the weekend that it was time for the creepy Halloween stuff to take it's place in the decorating scheme.  So the Daddy long leg spiders that I bought years ago and sparkled up with spray glitter are now hanging out on the pumpkins.  They are huge, let me tell you.  They creep me out -- I don't care if they are fake, I hate spiders with a passion.  The only way that I can kill a spider is by sucking it up in the vacumm and then I scream the whole time.   So we are pretty set for Halloween now and Cort is one happy boy.  He especially gets a kick out of this broom with the sign on it.

Img_1831 Somehow he feels it is his duty to remind me when I'm coming or going to switch the sign to it's appropriate side.  Hmmmmm.....lucky that the Witch word doesn't begin with a " B' or I might just be offended!!  Lol. ;-)

On the paper craft side of life, I have been busy creating for Creative Cafe.  You can read more about it at Danelle Johnson's blog--one of the master mind's behind this awesome product.  I'll post projects when I'm allowed, but right now we are working with a few new things releasing at the next manufacturer show.

I've been doing lots of stamp projects for Hampton Art.  Projects that will be available to make at your local Archiver's store.  I'll have to check on sharing those.

Here is one little project that I did for a monthly design team requirement for Hampton using Danelle's Fresh Decor stamp set.  I bought these container's at Hobby Lobby for little or nothing and used Melissa Frances, Daisy D's and My Mind's Eye papers plus lots of stamps from the collection.

I'll have another little stamp project to post soon--a mini album made with pocket pages and lots of other fun stuff.

Thanks for checking in on me.   Have a glorius Fall where you are.

Lots of love,  Linda

I did it again !

What, you might ask -- forgot that you have a blog?  Well, actually not that I have a blog, but that the days were flying by like crazy and I have had little or no time to post.  This time it has been 17 days since my last post--errrgggggg.  I tell you, it's been a whirlwind around here.  Cort was sick with Pneumonia for 10 days --  I doubt that I need to say anything more about those 10 days and where the time went ;-).   Then it seems that everything that I have been scrapping has been stuff that I can't share yet.   I want to do something just for me, but it  just hasn't worked out that way.  I can share the 2 new online class projects that are up now at Heart in Hand Scraps.  The journal is a FREE class.  You'll get step by step instructions and photos of each.  Plus if you have any questions about the project, just ask on the board and I can answer those for you.  This journal is sooooo easy and quick and just fun to put together.  It could also be used for school assignment notes, or a mini album, or for shopping lists.  You determine which and change the title on the front.  I should mention too, that those letter stickers are new from Mustard Moon.  Aren't they the best?

Check out the other classes at Heart in Hand Scraps too.  I'm sure that you can find something that you'll just have to make!  I also added a Free standing mini Slate board.  Not free, but pretty reasonably priced.

Other than that, we've been surviving the rain around here.  It's getting old though.  Cort's face in this photo says it all...

No great fall photos yet even because it's monsoon season here in Minnesota--lol.  Well, it feels like it anyway.  I was at my friend Gayle's yesterday and we got pretty excited to see the sun come out.  Too bad that it lasted for only about 30 minutes.  Ahh well.  I guess that it's not snowing in October so we can be grateful for that, right?

I'll try to be better about posting.  Maybe next time I can share some pillows that I am getting started on.  That is if my sewing machine doesn't go on the fritz.  Somedays I swear that it groans when I start to use it. :-)  It has been around and well used since 1979--a gift from my husband on our first Christmas together.  I've made baby quilts and tons of clothes, curtains, pillows etc.  Even used it on upholstery fabric when I've redone a few pieces of furniture, so I don't blame it for groaning.  I feel like groaning somedays at my age too.  I wonder how old it is in sewing machine years?  ;-)  Heh heh.

Back to work.  I have too much on my list today.  Plus it's not supposed to be raining today until later, so maybe I'll try to follow Cort around with the camera.  He just loves that ;-P

Love to all,  Linda
